Reverse osmosis

How It Works and Why You Need It

Η reverse osmosis (Reverse Osmosis, RO) is the most effective drinking water purification technology. It removes up to 99% of contaminants, providing excellent quality water.

How does it work

In nature, osmosis causes water to move from an area of low salt concentration to an area of high salt concentration. Reverse osmosis does the exact opposite: it applies pressure to force water through a semi-permeable membrane, leaving contaminants behind.

The RO membrane has pores so small (0.0001 micron) that it removes virtually everything: chlorine, heavy metals (lead, arsenic, mercury), nitrates and nitrites, pesticides, microorganisms, hardness (calcium/magnesium salts).

Where is it used?

At home, an RO system is placed under the sink and provides clean drinking water. In business, it is used in restaurants, hotels, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies. At the industrial level, it is applied to the desalination of seawater.

Advantages

Excellent water quality. Zero need to buy bottled water. Long-term savings (after the first 6-12 months the investment is amortized). Environmental sensitivity (zero plastic bottles).
