The calculation is made from the water hardness (in French degrees), the daily consumption and the number of people. For example: a 4-person house with medium hardness is covered by 20–25 liters of resin. Send us a water analysis and we will recommend the appropriate model.
The time-based regenerates at predetermined intervals, regardless of consumption. The volumetric regenerates only when necessary, saving salt and water, and is the ideal choice where consumption is not constant.
It depends on the hardness and consumption. In practice, a home installation needs topping up every 1–2 months. The container should never be completely empty — the resin stops regenerating.
They have two columns that alternate, so that there is soft water even during regeneration. They are essential in hotels, industries and where interruption of supply is not allowed.
With proper operation and clean feed water, the ion exchange resin lasts 8–10 years. The presence of chlorine, iron, or suspended solids reduces the duration — therefore pre-filtration is recommended.
The softener replaces calcium and magnesium with sodium, making the water slightly saltier. For drinking water, we recommend a reverse osmosis system at the sink, in combination with the softener for the rest of the network.
