How much sand does a sand filter need?

It depends on the size (Ø) of the filter. The exact quantity in kg is indicated in the “SAND” column of the technical characteristics table for each model. Use quartz sand 0,5–0,8 mm or glass filter media.

What is the difference between side-mount and top-mount multi-valve?

In side-mount, the multi-valve is placed on the side of the tank (easier access/maintenance), while in top-mount, it is on the top (more compact installation). Both operate with 6 positions: filter, backwash, rinse, recirculate, closed, waste.

How do I backwash?

Stop the pump, turn the multi-valve to “Backwash”, start for 1–3 minutes until the water in the glass is clear, stop, turn to “Rinse” for ~30΄΄ and return to “Filter”. Recommended when the pressure rises 0,3–0,5 bar above normal.

How often do I change the sand?

Quartz sand is usually replaced every 3–5 years, depending on usage and water quality. Glass filter media has a longer lifespan.
