FAQ

How does a water softener work?

The water passes through a column of ion-exchange resin, which traps calcium and magnesium ions — the salts that cause scale — and replaces them with sodium. When the resin becomes saturated, the head automatically performs a regeneration with brine from the salt reservoir.

What size resin do I need?

It depends on the hardness of the water, the daily consumption and the number of people. For example, a 4-person house with medium hardness is covered by 20–25 liters of resin. Send us a water analysis and we will recommend the appropriate model.

Chronometric or volumetric head?

The chronometric regenerates at fixed intervals. The volumetric measures the liters passed and regenerates only when needed, saving salt and water — it is the appropriate choice where consumption is not constant.

How often do I add salt?

Practically every 1–2 months in a domestic installation, depending on hardness and consumption. The container should never be completely empty, as this stops the regeneration of the resin.

How long does the resin last?

With clean feed water and proper operation, 8–10 years. Chlorine, iron, and suspended solids reduce the duration — therefore pre-filtration before the softener is recommended.

Is soft water drinkable?

The water becomes slightly saltier as calcium is replaced by sodium. For drinking water we recommend a reverse osmosis system in the sink, along with a softener for the rest of the network.
