METHODOLOGY

Unlike most other processes that require three purification steps (pretreatment / biological treatment / final clarification), with the technology SBR (SBR = Sequencing Batch Reaktor = sequential biological purification) the second and third stages are performed in a "reactor" (condensed into one tank). The processing steps are as follows:

  1. Preliminary treatment
    Here the solids/fats are separated from the liquid by sedimentation while the fats are separated on the surface in the form of floating sludge. The wastewater then passes through a buffer tank to feed the specified amount of wastewater to the SBR reactor at intervals (operating cycles). The equalization tank will be able to collect one day's (24-hour) wastewater.

  2. SBR reactor
    From the pre-treatment, defined quantities of wastewater are transferred to the SBR reactor at intervals controlled by the automation (PLC) on the electronic panel of the unit. This is where the cleaning phase begins, in which the micro-organisms degrading the organic load are sufficiently supplied with oxygen through the air supply.

  3. Sewage separation
    The wastewater is agitated in the aeration phase, then there is the phase without aeration but with agitation (denitrification) and finally the resting sedimentation phase. In this phase the sludge (biological sludge) is separated, settling to the bottom of the SBR reactor, leaving the clear (treated sewage) at the top.

  4. Sewage Disposal
    Then the purified wastewater is removed from the SBR reactor with the help of a pump (outflow to disposal). The so-called excess sludge that collects at the bottom of the SBR reactor is pumped out at sparse intervals and collected back into the pretreatment tank.


    Then a new cycle begins (3-4 cycles /24-hour).

    The whole process is fully automatic with the help of the appropriate time programming in the PLC of the electronic panel.

DESIGN

The units were designed according to international standards:


❖DIN 4261 and EN 12 566-3 "prefabricated units for the treatment of urban waste water with a population equivalent of up to 50 people".

❖ DIN 4261-1 "Small municipal wastewater treatment plants"
After the selection of the unit type, the pre-planning of the placement of the unit in the customer's proposed space is done.

CONSTRUCTION

The Basic Components:

-Prefabricated plastic single-chamber tanks made of high quality polyethylene (PE) material with thick wall thickness and suitable ribs that make the tank strong and rigid under pressure, with suitable manholes with lids.

-Complete technical equipment consisting of: stainless steel submersible pumps, an air compressor, submersible fine bubble diffusers, submersible agitator (depending on the type of unit selected), piping-connectors, electrical panel/automation (control with LCD Display and warning LED), manual operator with operating and maintenance regulations.

INSTALLATION

Sturdy prefabricated plastic tanks suitable for in-ground installation, easy to install. The installation is carried out with an excavator. The appropriate pit corresponding to the type of unit is dug, the tanks are placed (access necks with lids in the corresponding manholes), the already prefabricated piping is connected to the preformed openings and finally the embankments are made with the appropriate configuration of the space. The electrical panel, suitable for outdoor installation, is placed near the unit and the unit is ready for use.

Additional equipment/services offered (OPTIONAL)

Depending on the use of treated wastewater (pure), the following options can be made:

• Use of the treated water for irrigation: in this case a) filtration and disinfection unit with UV radiation will be required. The intensive UV radiation inactivates the remaining bacteria in the treated waste which are killed in a few seconds. b) Tank/pumping station for collection and disposal of clean water

• Underground diffusion of treated liquids: in this case it will be required:

a) well for collecting the clean water for feeding the underground diffusion system.

b) suitable subsurface diffusion system of the treated waste into the soil, which basically depends on the diffusion speed of the water in the existing soil.
